Sexiest.
Buenos Aires is olden AND bigger than New York. It turned out to be the sexiest city I've ever been to. There is always something going on and it never sleeps. It's wicked.
Been staying in the "posh" area Palermo all the time. Lovely, you can easily walk around and be safe at the time. Tons of restaurants and bars and shops. Which I was looking forward to. Havnt seen good one's in a long time. I'm used not to eat sallad at those places because it's not clean enough and it's gonna make you sick but in argentina. He'll yeah !
The bars are the coolest too, so many different styles on them. Oh my buddah.
My first night I went to a very local bar where a guy singed tango music. Very very nice actully. We had a lot of red wine and I could so feel that the day after. Uh !
We went down to see the big UN ( united nations ) flower, it's a flower here and in NY the statute of liberty. The flower has a weight of 18tons and it's 18meters high. Every morning it opened after what weather it is. And closes every night at sunset. Pretty cool in my opinion. Saw the big handicraft market in San telmo on sunday. It's just massive, and I found the most beautiful bag ever. LOVE !
A really different leather bag, yey.
Nick and I went to La Boca, the dodgy neighborhood with all theire colorful house everywhere. And that's were the tango started down at the port. Goes back to the 15th century.
On My trip ive start to interested in history of all the contries. It's so much that's been happening over here. South America has an amazing history.
I've even been on a tango lesson here in BA. That was interesting. A lot of fun, didn't do a very good job in the beginning bjut got it at the end. I prefer the salsa but still fun. It's such a sexy dance. Wow.
And yeah, for being away for ten month a neded to get some new clothes. Can't believe I've been having the same for that long time. So now I'm happy I'm nice and new. And I've booked my flight to Vancouver, Canada for the 15th. Soo looking forward to stay in one place and actully to work too. It's time.
But now, I'm off to 268 waterfall. Iguasu falls.
- take your time and breath.
Snowflakes.
A snow-white landscape turned up when I got in to Barilotchein southern Argentina, a great skii-area in south America. I fell like home immediate with "alphouses", snow and chocolate shops surrounding me. Almost like salzburg.
Had a walk down at the lake looking at the snow peaks all around. Sweetness.
Even my hostel was good, loved it. Went up for some skiing one day, ( shouldnt tell you that I forgot my card so I couldn't. To embarrassing to tell.. ) good day anyway, strolling around up there a bit frustrating to see everyone with there skii's and I couldn't. Big fail.
We were catching a afternoon bus to puerto madryn so that was my only opportunity and I missed it. Oh !
It wasn't great with snow so I should just think it wouldn't been good enough..
We had a twenty hours bus ride for PM, out on the Argentinian coast. A lot warmer and no snow. ( have to say it was my worst bus ride in Argentina so far.. ) we spend a good three days there. Walking on the beach looking out over the wales. They get really close to the beach. Not more than forty meter away so you could easily hear there blowing air out and splashing there fins in the water. Cool.
We even went one hour away on the cost and did a boat trip to see them. Actully we saw them as good on the beach. Got a bit closer on the boat thoe, like ten meter away. All I wanted to see was a jump and a got loads of them. So I was pleased. New a bit what to expect since I was in New Zealand. Nick on the other hand was a bit unhappy about it.
It's not the biggest wales, the southern right wale can still get up to eighteen meter so pretty massive.
Too bad it was the off season for the penguins, wanted to see them, they have the sexing biggest penguin population outside Antarctica but like I'd said before. Next time.
From shewing coca-leafs and drinking 96% alcohol in Bolivia we're gonna enjoy some good steaks, wine and parties in Buenos Aires.
- Nervous.
Traffic-danger.
Did a day on a bicycle around the wineries in Mendoza. The wines here is to kill for. Me, two other Sara and Dave went for it. Can't remember how many different wineries we went to but it was loads, even a chocklate and liquer place, some of them we had at least two full glasses of wine in ! It's just so nice to go around, pretty warm I the sun and it feels like autumn in the air. God I miss the seasons. The end of the day made us a BIG traffic danger.. Couldnt cycle straigth anymore.. Otherwise mendoza is a sweet place, a big city with almost a million peoples living here. Today we had a stroll in the park, drinking coffee and just do nothing. Good old Sunday's. I do have one hour for my bus down to barilotche to met up old man nick again. Heard it tons of snow so be good for a day with the skii's. Let's get tired for my seventeen hour bus ride..
- you just have to enjoy.
Vino tinto.
So, where to start. We walk up the highest peak around Potosi. A bit more than 5000m. As always I got a bit altitude sickness but I was a lot better than last time and I did it.
Mirco and I made a Taliban movie on the top. Hilarious :D
The trekking was nice and we were both exhausted getting back..
Left for Tupiza the morning after. Got in, realized that the tours to the salt flats and Uyuni wasn't going so the day after we took the local bus for the second time ( man, the busses is the worst., only dirt roads too.. ) had another five hours on the bus.. Fuck.
Got in to Uyuni and because of all the snow the last days there was no tours down south to cross the border for chile.. Uyuni was freezing by the way. Minus, don't really know how much but the nights without heating is killing. Oh !
Did a one day tour at the salt flats, which I though was enough. Amazing ceenery ! Specially because its a lot of water so you get pretty good reflections of the mountains around.
Left this time with the train at two in the morning back to Tupiza. The train was a lot better, but the ceenery From the bus was just crazy cool. From desire to snow peaks and canyons. So different. But we though we been there done that ! Hihi.
Did a three hours horse ride in Tupiza for the canyons.. Gave me a good laugh at Mirco, the worst horse rider ever. Our guide had to jump of and go and get him and the horse. He even co plained about his balls a lot of times.. Funny guy this crazy Italian..
From Tupiza we went on another bus to the border of Argentina. Crossed it and had to wait a few hours for the bus to Salta. Northern Argentina. Beautiful city, and everything here is so European. Felt like a needed something more developed right now.. so far, I do love Argentina.
Rigth now I'm in Cafayate, a really small village south from Salta that's famous for it's wine. The second best wine district in Argentina. Today I went around with my awesome bicycle for some wineries. Lovely red wine.
Great steaks and awesome wine. Yiiiipie. Argentina is a lot more expensive thou, have to watch my money. A bus ride for three hours in Bolivia cost me two dollars and here it's twenty. Different yes.
Heading for the biggest and most famous wine district today called Mendoza. Only gonna spend two and a half day there, no accommodation because of copa america.
Ciao for this time.
- I'm singing your favorite song,
Headbang.
Spend 15 hours on a nigthbut from LA Paz to Sucre. Was expecting the roads to be crap but it wasnt that bad. Just Freezing on the bus. Ahhhh !
Heard a lot about Sucre, a lovely colonial city but i would say the ones in Colombia is a lot better.
Anyway, i can at leats say ive been there.. ! Me and Mirco went to see the Dinosaur trecks just outside Sucre. DISSAPOINTING. Probably the worst thing I ever seen. Was more like a kindergarden than a obswervation center. Made us both laugh so much thoue.
Potosi is sweet, got here from Sucre, really like this small place. Like everything in Bolivia is not very NICE as i would say it. But its different and so far all the locals are friendly !
Did the mie tour today with the " The Real Deal" company. They are all X-miners and it was fantastic ! We went in the mines, walk all the way trught the montain, was around 3 km. Honestly i would say it was a bit scary, clostrufobic. At some parts we had to crawl down on our knees. Its all dust, strange smells and really hot or really cold. But it was awesome.
Does miners are doing such a hard work in there and they earn maximum 300 Euros a month. Oh my Buddah. It was a intresting tour all the way trou and I enjoyed it.
Tomorrow im going for a one day trek up the montains to see the lakes. Hope im not gonna freez my ass off.
- Ey Mr Taliban.
You're the best my dear.
Today is a special day. The third of July, the day when my best friend was born twenty four years ago.
I want to wish her all the best ( not just for today..' ) and congratulations.
Sooo want to be with you Lollo, celebrating but I'm sure you have a wicked day..
All the craziness we done, that I have to do by my own now. You are missing on my side.
Want you here to have a big laugh With you. Laugh until we cry as always..
And Playing retards, the thing we're been really good at. Now I'm a TARD on my own.. But, it's all recorded and will stay with me forever.
My best friend, as you will always be. Bikkjen, min allra bästa vän.
Lots of love.
- we're never apart, it's just air between. Once best friends, always best friends.
Poorest.
My way to Bolivia went throu as you probably know. Lucky me that the border opened so it went smoothly even if took me thirteen hours.
First thing I saw crossing the border in to Bolivia was a big Volvo truck with the text " hurtigrutten and M/S Lofotoen ", Norway is everywhere.. !
Got the late afternoon boat to Isla del sol, the biggest island outside copacabana in lake Titicaca. The worlds highest lake. The two and a half hours boat ride was boring.tired and hungry but worth the trip. The island is beautiful.
Met three guys staying at the same hostel so we all went up to the view point where we met another two. Had a stroll for some hours around the island and shared some pizza and red wine later on. Great night.
Very quiet at the island, nothing to do.
Next they I had a big walk to the north side of the island. Amazing, really liked it ! Met Mirco from the they before and we went to Copacabana for one night.
Took a local bus to La Paz, not the best we done. Me and Mirco and ALL locals. Roads in Bolivia is just the worth.. Fuck ! Had to make a stop when. Small mini bus crashed so we all had to go out and flip it back. Hilarious.
Lucky Mirco is fluent Spanish speaking so it went easier then it would have been.
Anyway, got in to La Paz hanging out. Strolling. Bolivia is the poorest country in south America for sure, really dodgy but I feel safe which is a good sign. ( not every day over here... ) Saw the main things in the center, markets, churchs and so on.. Saw the world photo exhibition 2011. Amazing, it made me realize how amazing I actually have it. I'm living the dream, good health, seeing the world. My family and friends are all good. Couldn't have it better.
The exhibition is showing pictures from last year, tragedies in the world. Depressing but very very interesting. ( check the website www.worldpressphoto.org )
Went to the cinema seeing hangover two. Sometimes you just miss the normal things you're up to back home.. And I did like it.
Today we went mountain biking on THE WORLS MOST DANGEROUS ROAD. It was wicked. Thought it was gonna be harder. Wasn't that bad, really rocky and STEEP on the side. The road itself is on the side of a mountain without any barriers .. Cool !
Went with B-Side, good company with small groups. Only four of us. I keep up with our guide so he ask if I wanted to do some more downhill but don't have time for it. The day was great and I loved it ! I'm still alive ! Wooooop.
Probably going for a few drinks tonight, checking out the nightlife of La Paz. It's supposted to be one of the top tens in the world.
- Blessing.
